Rugged and steadfast, kind yet disciplined, forward thinking and inventive: Mother Joseph held so many qualities that helped her and those around her survive and thrive. Compelled by her deep faith, she was driven and industrious in so many ways: as deft with a hammer as she was a thread and needle, a designer, architect, visionary, educator, and caretaker. Moreover, she helped countless others use their strength, skills, talents, and contributions to find ways to connect and build community. We hope as people contemplate her life that they see the space left in the sculpture as an invitation to imagine stepping into her world.
