The Tiger
Caldera Arts Center
Completed 2013
Reclaimed wood
The Tiger was created during our month-long residency at Caldera, near Sisters, OR. Influenced by the massive Hearth Building created by Allied Works Architecture, our sculpture is carved from the same type of wood beams. The image comes from a book that has had a deep impact on us as artists—a sweeping saga retelling true events about a Siberian tiger who seemingly seeks vengeance against a particular hunter then begins to hunt other men. The fearsome yet endangered predator is such a compelling character and the story is so recent yet timeless we thought it deserved a sculpture to pay it homage.
